Kimolos Restaurants: Where to Eat at Psathi and Chora
For such a small, non-touristy island the food on Kimolos is a happy surprise, with fresh dishes and good coffee rather than the standard tourist fare. Most of the eating gathers around the port of Psathi, where the ferries arrive, and in the capital Chora. This guide covers the tavernas and cafes we tried, from the Echinoussa taverna on the harbour beach to the coffee bar in the port and breakfast at the Windmill Hotel.

Echinoussa taverna, Psathi
The Echinoussa taverna sits on the beach in the harbour of Psathi, where the ferries arrive. It is run by Panagiotis, with Fotis the cook, a trained chef who makes something special of the food. The staff are extremely friendly, and the meals are original and delicious rather than the usual cucumber-and-tomato plates. Our verdict: very, very good, a 10 out of 10.
The coffee bar in the port
A little further along the port from the taverna is the coffee bar, with comfortable seats, nice music, delicious coffee and large glasses of metaxa. It is an easy place to sit after a meal or a swim. Our verdict: very good, a 9 out of 10.
Breakfast at the Windmill

Eating by area
The choice of places to eat on Kimolos is small, and most of it sits at Psathi and in Chora, with a few tavernas at the coves and beaches such as Goupa. Because the island stays quiet and traditional, opening times follow the season, and the tavernas at the port are the safest bet outside high summer.
